the perks of being a wallflower

Anyone else excited about The Perks of Being a Wallflower movie? This is a book I have felt fondly toward since I was a teen, when I saw actual commercials on MTV for this very book. A television commercial, can you believe that? In between Road Rules and Say What Karaoke!

Yes, yes, they will probably ruin it because Movies Ruin All Books. I, however, am skilled in separating books and their movie counterparts. They are what they are.

Plus, Emma Watson? Emma Watson.

I think I will queue up Perks in my reading list. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a good re-read, and I know for a fact that my copy is a lovely, worn-in paperback that I think was withdrawn from the library at one point. Feels good in a purse, laid flat on a table, in my hands.

Now which box of books to open first…

I’m really excited for the movie. I’m not going to see it in theaters because when you’re underemployed, movies aren’t a luxury I can afford. But, I think like you, I will re-read this book. I still remember the haunting feelings I had while reading this book, and I wonder if I will still have that feeling once again when reading it for the second time.

Did you read any of the other MTV Books at all? i really liked some of them, they were an amazing indie book series that I thought filled a niche in the book market. One of my favorites was The A-Z Hookup List, which is still hilarious to this day.

I feel you on the movies… I have seen like, 4 theater movies in the past 3 years! I remember liking Perks as a teen, but only when I re-read in college did it really hit me hard. I’m looking forward to another read-through!
